The Butter Paddle in Los Gatos
On November 5th The Butter Paddle officially opened its new store in Los Gatos with several guests and a ribbon cutting ceremony performed by the Mayor of Los Gatos, Diane McNutt. As Saratogans know the store has been a mainstay of Big Basin Way for 43 years and we were all sad to see it go. The decision to relocate was driven by their desire to attract more business and if our visit on Monday 1st November was anything to go by, it was a wise decision. The store enjoyed a steady stream of customers after its unofficial opening two days before and on a Monday, usually a slow day for shoppers. For those of you who haven’t yet visited the new shop, it is located just three doors away from the Apple store on North Santa Cruz Avenue. It should be pointed out that The Butter Paddle donates 100% of its proceeds to EMQFamiliesFirst who help children and their families in need. During its time in Saratoga, through support of its loyal customers, The Butter Paddle has been able to donate more than $2M to this very worthy cause. The organization is run entirely by unpaid volunteers who give their time and creativity freely. Needless to say, with very low overheads, all profits generated go to helping those needy children. We applaud The Butter Paddle and although we will miss popping in when we are strolling through the village, Los Gatos isn’t very far away. We wish them success for the next 43 years.
